Lectio Divina, meaning "divine reading," is a practice of scriptural reading, meditation, and prayer intended to promote communion with God and increase the knowledge of God's word.
Select a scripture. (If you need a scripture select one from the daily office readings)
Take your time with each step; there is no need to rush.
Incorporate Lectio Divina into your daily routine to deepen your understanding and relationship with Scripture.
1. Read: Slowly and attentively read a short passage of Scripture. Notice any words or phrases that stand out.
2. Meditate: Reread the Passage. Reflect on the passage. What is God saying to you through these words? Let the words resonate in your heart and mind.
3. Pray: Reread the passage. Respond to the passage with prayer. Speak to God about what you have read and what it means to you. This can be a time for dialogue with God.
4. Contemplate: Reread the passage. Rest in God’s presence. Move beyond words and thoughts to simply be with God. Allow God to work within you.
