How to Practice Lectio Divina

1. Read: Slowly and attentively read a short passage of Scripture. Notice any words or phrases that stand out.

2. Meditate: Reread the Passage. Reflect on the passage. What is God saying to you through these words? Let the words resonate in your heart and mind.

3. Pray: Reread the passage. Respond to the passage with prayer. Speak to God about what you have read and what it means to you. This can be a time for dialogue with God.

4. Contemplate: Reread the passage. Rest in God’s presence. Move beyond words and thoughts to simply be with God. Allow God to work within you.
